Sketching

I couldn't find the camera battery charger today so I couldn't take a picture of the painting I did for my sister. Hopefully it isn't in the closet that I "organized" today because then I may never find it. I swear, it is harder for me to find things when they are actually put away. Anyway, I digress....
So instead I put up a photo of the sketch I am working on. I am practicing drawing people in hopes that I will be able to paint them better. In high school my art teacher, who goes down in history as one of the best teachers ever, taught us to graph our pictures so that we can get the proportions right, which is so hard for me and most important for a realistic drawing or painting. I took the above picture with my phone, so it's a little dark....sorry.

I am definitely finding that this process of creating can be VERY frustrating. Every picture goes through an "ugly" phase and you have to hold it together and keep going without getting too frustrated, which is quite hard for me. I thought my kids tested my patience, ha, well this may take the cake. It's good for me....at least that's what I keep telling myself.

I hope to post my painting tomorrow and spotlight a new artist.

Good Night. Good Art.
